Tyler Pence is the new University of Illinois- Springfield Assistant Cross Country and Track Coach.
Pence comes to Rinoworx after a standout career at The University Southern Indiana. While at Southern Indiana, Pence was a two-time NCAA DII Track and Field National Champion (indoor 5k and outdoor 10k) and nine-time All-America honoree. In addition, he was an eleven-time member of the All-Midwest Region team and named to the All-GLVC team 12 times. Pence was named the 2011 GLVC Freshman of the Year, 2014 Midwest Regional Athlete of the Year and 2015 USI Athlete of the Year.
Pence graduated from Southern Indiana in May of 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in mathematics and special education. He is now pursuing his masters in Education.
A Springfield, IL native, Pence competed for Springfield High before competing collegiately.
