Kainan is a family man, lifelong athlete, and 11-year coach of the Springfield High School Track and Field Team. Kainan loves to coach his three children’s soccer, football and basketball teams as well. He has participated locally in sports since his youth and continued to Central Iowa and Illinois College where he was a dual sports athlete in football and track. Kainan joined the Springfield Fire Department in 2006 and participated in the 2013 World Police and Fire Games in Belfast, Ireland. Kainan won the gold medal in the 400m hurdles, beating other police and fireman from all over the world. In 2012 he also won the Stoneman Sprint Triathlon held at Lake Springfield.
He has been the Sprint and Hurdle Coach for the SHS track team for 11 years, a Personal trainer since 2012, and a Wellness trainer for the Springfield Fire Department since 2016. Kainan trains anyone from youth to the elderly with an emphasis on performance, flexibility, and recovery.
